At New Horizons Academy, students learn the value of character
and integrity while undergoing intense academic training, personal
counseling, and Christian teaching. New Horizons Academy (NHA)
is a Christian, therapeutic, co-educational boarding school licensed
by the State of Indiana, and fully accredited by the Indiana
Board of Education and the Association of Christian Schools International
(ACSI). The NHA campus is located in a beautiful wooded setting
about three-and-one-half miles outside of Marion, Indiana. Spiritual: The remarkable success of NHA derives from its Biblical
principles. Warm acceptance in a supportive setting stimulates
students’ growth and maturity. Students have a weekly
youth group on campus, led by our school chaplain and staff.
In addition, each residence chooses a local church to attend
weekly. All students attend Biblical studies classes, memorize
scripture daily, and have daily devotions with their staff.
Students may participate in personal discipleship with a staff
member of their choosing, and can also join our spiritual leadership
club. Residential Life: New Horizons Academy has four beautiful residences.
Eight to ten male and female students live separately in each
home. Each residence has house parents who are closely involved
in the students’ lives. These closely-knit family units
help develop students’ relationship skills, foster feelings
of self-worth, and augment personal Christian growth. Education: NHA uses a mixture of group and tutorial methods
in small, stimulating classes that allow for close student
supervision and individual instruction. This intensive program
not only gives students success, but greatly increases their
future academic achievement. Teaching staff are licensed by the
State of Indiana and certified by the Association of Christian
Schools International (ACSI), and cover all major subject areas.
Proximity to two excellent Christian universities provides a
supported transition for secondary level students interested
in college. Social Services: Our department of full-time counselors is augmented,
as needed, by community therapists and consultants. Social
Services provides weekly individual counseling and group therapy
sessions, crisis counseling as needed, individual case conferences
and treatment plans and regular progress reports. NHA fills an
important niche among New Horizons’ three schools. Because
of our proximity to family and American culture, we are ideally
situated for helping students who are reintegrating to home and
family. Family counseling and structured home visits play an
important part in helping students as they return home.
Work & Recreation: Strong character and integrity are
built by developing good work ethics. NHA provides this valuable
training through daily chores, on-campus work projects, and
community service experiences. Students learn to develop
their own work ethic, a valuable asset after they leave New
Horizons. Work is balanced with recreation in our sports
activities, bi-annual retreats, seasonal functions, house-trips,
and weekly outings. |
